April’s U23 hotlist: Brighton and FC Salzburg stars lead the way
April has seen some of the brightest stars in the U23 age group make waves this season, with two teams in particular leading the way. Brighton & Hove Albion and FC Salzburg have each had remarkable campaigns in the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League, respectively, and their young stars have played a key role in the teams’ success.
Brighton, led by manager Graham Potter, have had a remarkable rise in the English Premier League this season, with the Seagulls currently in 12th place with a few games to go. Much of this is thanks to the strong performances of the team’s younger players – Tariq Lamptey, Alexis Mac Allister, and Leandro Trossard have all been key contributors.
FC Salzburg, meanwhile, have been a force to be reckoned with in the UEFA Champions League. Led by rising star Erling Haaland, they’ve outplayed the likes of Lazio and Club Brugge to reach the quarter-finals. Other young players such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Rasmus Kristensen have made big contributions for the Austrian club.
These two teams have become the poster children for what can be achieved when young players are given the opportunity to shine. With their current form, it’s likely that these players will continue to be in the spotlight for the rest of the season and beyond.
So, as we look ahead to the remainder of the season and the summer transfer window, keep an eye out for these two teams and the stars they have to offer. It certainly looks like they’ll continue to be at the top of the U23 hotlist for the foreseeable future.
