Haaland nets PL single-season record 35th goal

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland has set a new Premier League single-season goal record with his 35th goal of the season, surpassing the previous record held by Alan Shearer.

The 19-year-old Norwegian striker has been in sensational form this season, scoring an impressive 35 goals in just 40 games, making him the first player in the Premier League era to reach this milestone.

Haaland’s incredible haul puts him seven goals ahead of second-place Mohamed Salah, and he is also the joint second-highest goalscorer in all of Europe’s top five leagues, with only Barcelona’s Lionel Messi scoring more this season.

The Dortmund star has been linked with a move to Manchester City, with manager Pep Guardiola reportedly keen to sign him, but for now he is focusing on breaking more records.

Speaking after the match, Haaland said: “It’s an amazing feeling. To break this record means a lot to me and I’m very proud to be part of history. But now it’s time to keep scoring and help our team to reach the goals we set out to achieve this season.”

Haaland’s performance this season has been remarkable, and it is easy to see why he has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe. However, with the Premier League season coming to an end soon, it remains to be seen if he will be able to top his current tally.
