Sources: Messi to Leave PSG at End of Season

According to reports from multiple sources, Lionel Messi is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the current season. The Argentine and six-time Ballon D’Or winner is said to be unhappy with the atmosphere and lifestyle at the French club and is looking for a change of scenery.

The news comes only days after French newspaper L’Equipe reported that Messi was in talks with the Qatar-owned club over a new contract, which seemed to signal that Messi was content to remain a PSG player. However, it appears those reports were premature and that Messi has had a change of heart since then.

The 33-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring 21 goals in 28 league appearances. He has also contributed 15 assists during the 2018/19 campaign and has been instrumental in helping the Parisians to the top of the Ligue 1 table.

It is unclear at this stage where Messi may end up next season, although it is likely he will remain in Europe’s top five leagues. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City are all said to be interested in acquiring the Argentine’s services, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

What is certain is that PSG will be losing one of their most important players at the end of the season. All eyes will now be on Messi as he enters what could be the most important summer of his career.
